Welcome to Le Maine au Cerf! Hello, we are Mary and Phil. Our journey with this beautiful country began in 1979, when, still in our teens, we moved to Lyon. Phil started teaching English at a language school, while Mary worked at the Laura Ashley store in Lyon. After five wonderful years, we returned to the UK, where for the next 40 years we embraced family life, built our home and managed a smallholding on the Worcestershire/Herefordshire border. Le Maine au Cerf captured our hearts during one of our many trips back to France, as we searched for our dream Maison de Maître. As we drove through the Cognac vineyards, the house suddenly appeared before us—love at first sight, “un coup de foudre”! That magical moment happened in the summer of 2022. By autumn, the house was ours, and we spent our first night here on 4th November 2023. We hope you’ll fall in love with Le Maine au Cerf just as we did.
